Let\u2019s look at a couple of these techniques and tools.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Change Local Password Policy Settings<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you have access to another admin account on your computer, you can use that to change the way the local password policy is enforced. In effect, you can remove the need for a password using this method. Although you won\u2019t need deep expertise in WIndows to do this, you may not feel comfortable changing security settings on your computer. If that\u2019s the case, skip to the last section of this article, which shows you a reliable tool to unlock your Windows 10 password instantly even if you currently don\u2019t have login access.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To change the local password policy, you will need to login with an admin account that is different from your locked user account. Once you\u2019re in, follow the steps outlined below:<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Step 1: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Open a Run dialog box and type in <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">secpol.msc<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and hit Enter. This will open the Local Security Policy window.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-14457\" src=\"https:\/\/www.unlockunit.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/image3.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"366\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.unlockunit.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/image3.png 600w, https:\/\/www.unlockunit.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/image3-150x92.png 150w, https:\/\/www.unlockunit.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/image3-300x183.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Step 2:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> In the menu pane on the left side of your screen, under Security Settings, go to Account Policies &gt; Password Policy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Step 3:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Double-click each of the parameters you see in the main window and change the number to 0. When you change the fourth option to 0 (Minimum password length), what you are doing is effectively disabling the need to enter a password.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Step 4:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> You should also disable the \u201cPassword must meet complexity requirements\u201d option after double-clicking to open the properties box for that attribute.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can now exit the utility and log out of the admin account. When you login to your previously locked account, no password will be required. Of course, if you don\u2019t have access to an admin account, this method won\u2019t be possible. But before we see another great way to unlock a Windows 10 forgotten password, let\u2019s look at one method that is NOT recommended.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Password Recovery: Why Not Do It?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Password recovery is, at best, a lengthy and complicated process that basically \u201ccracks\u201d your Windows 10 password. Most of the utilities in this class of applications are open-source, which means you really don\u2019t know what you\u2019re getting. You may be faced with malware attacks or end up with some other malicious code on your computer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you don\u2019t have experience with password hashing and other related techniques, it\u2019s going to be nearly impossible for you to crack your password. Additionally, even a good password recovery tool will take hours or even days to crack a complex password. And most of them don\u2019t even work with Windows 10, so it\u2019s just going to be a waste of time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Best Approach: Reset Windows 10 Password Instantly<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you want to unlock your password, the best way is to reset it to another one or simply blank it.
