Blackberry Passport not asking for the unlock code

If your BlackBerry Passport is not asking for the unlock code and does not prompt the message SIM Network Unlock PIN (it only reads “Network Locked”) and there is no designated field where to insert the unlock code, please try the following methods:

Blackberry Passport does not ask for codes

  1. Reboot your device with a NON-Accepted SIM card (Please make sure you have inserted a GSM SIM Card, not a CDMA one).
  2. Your device will ask for the network unlock code.
  3. Insert your unlock code XXXXXXXXXXXXXX
  4. Press Unlock
  5. Reboot the device one more time

For other Blackberry devices that do not ask for codes

  1. Insert an active SIM Card from a network provider different than the carrier you originally bought your phone from.
  2. On the main menu, go to Settings
  3. Click on Advanced Options
  4. Click on SIM Card
  5. Type in MEPD (you won’t see anything typed on your screen)
  6. Type in MEP, hold ALT and press 2, and another screen will pop up for the unlock code. Or hold ALT, and type in MEP2 while holding ALT.
  7. Enter the unlock code you received from us
If it’s not working with a non-accepted SIM card, please also try with no SIM card and with the original SIM card too.
