How to save Instagram photos on your PC

Over the past years, Instagram reached a ridiculously rapid growth, now being one of the most popular social networks in the world, with its number of users increasing with each minute. And some of them prefer sharing photos over there rather than on Facebook and other social networks.

Not once I’ve come across some great looking Instagram videos and pictures and wanted to save them, for later use. I bet you did the same thing but got stuck, as you didn’t know how to save Instagram photos on your PC.

If you’re in the same situation now, you’re in the perfect place. Below you will find a complete guide, with all the methods you can use to do this. Ready? Let’s find out!

How to save your own Instagram photos on a PC

Before finding out how you can save any picture you find, let’s focus a bit on those users who want to keep the photos they take with their phones, share them on Instagram, and then want to keep them on a PC.

We’re going to presume that you want to save the edited photos you post on the social network. Otherwise, if you want the original images, you can easily get them from your phone.

This is actually a basic feature Instagram offers, but it just needs to be enabled.

  • Log in to your Instagram account from the app
  • Open the app and go to the Settings icon, on the top left corner of your profile
  • Enable the Save Original Photos feature

Every time you post from a phone, it will be automatically saved to your Camera Roll, in an album named Instagram.

On the other side, if you want to save them using just a PC, the procedure is a bit different.

Instagram doesn’t allow downloading photos from their website, so you need to get into a bit of code. But don’t worry, it’s actually very easy. In order to do this, follow these steps:

  • Go to Instagram.com and log in
  • Look for the photo you want to save and right-click on it
  • If you’re using Chrome, select View Page Source. This will take you to a page full of code
  • Click Ctrl + F/Cmd + F and search for “.jpg”. The first link that will be highlighted is the photo you selected
  • Copy the photo’s URL, starting with “https://” until “.jpg”
  • Open a new browser tab and copy the URL, then hit Enter. You should see the photo
  • Right-click on the photo and save it in a folder of your choice

An alternative method would be to sync Instagram with your Facebook account. Everything you’ll upload, a new image will also be posted on Facebook. There, all Instagram posts will be organized in an album, so you can easily download all of your images.

How to save somebody else’s Instagram photos on a PC

Unfortunately, things can get a bit complicated if you want to save Instagram photos on your PC, but they’re not on your profile. But this doesn’t mean that it’s impossible!

In a situation like this, you have two options. One of them would be taking screenshots, then open the photo and crop the top and bottom, until you’re left just with the image itself. After this, save it to your camera roll and send it to a PC.

You can also take a screenshot directly from your PC  and save the photo on your hard disk drive.

Another method would be to search for the person whose pictures you want to save on Facebook. If the profile is private and Instagram syncing was enabled, you should find an Instagram album on his or her profile. However, this is possible just for a person’s account.

And this is it, folks! These are a few tricks you can use to save Instagram photos on your PC, no matter if we’re talking about those you posted or images from other accounts, which you’ve come across.

Obviously, we’re open to suggestions. If you know any other ways of doing this, do let us know about them, using the comments section below!
