Sony does not ask for the unlock code

What to do when your Sony does not ask for the unlock code? Do not worry!

If your Sony doesn’t ask for the unlock code, then you can try the following method in order to check if there is any way to enter the unlocking code.

  1. Switch ON your phone without SIM Card
  2. Press the left arrow once
  3. Press the button * two times
  4. Press the left arrow once
  5. “Personalize with MNC2” will appear
  6. There you have to enter the unlocking code

If afterward, you receive any of the messages “Code Accepted” or “Network Unlock Successful” or “Not Yet Personalized” your phone is now fully Unlocked.

Alternative for newer models

If your Sony is by any chance an Android device the above method will not work.

This method is successful only for newer model phones (Xperia Z5, Xperia X, Xperia XA etc.). In order to force your phone to ask for the unlocking code go to the dial screen as if you were to place a phone call and dial the following sequence:

  • #987654321#

A special window should appear where the unlocking code can be inserted. If dialing the sequence won’t work please make sure that Wifi and Airplane Mode are turned OFF and try again.

Insert the code and that’s it! Your phone is now unlocked.

Note: If you are not receiving any signal after unlocking, make sure your wireless connections are turned on after unlocking the phone. Also, pull the battery and restart the phone.

IMPORTANT!

If by any chance your Sony is a Xperia Z 3 there is a chance that it can only be unlocked through the Device Unlock App, in which case you can check out our Tips and Trickssection to find out how can this be done.
